Reflection :
To my surprise, this is the first time I meet a foreign book. So I felt a little afraid and fluttered. Holding this mind, I opened the first page of this diary book. This book was written by an ordinary boy named Adrian Mole who is in adolescence period. So we could know well about how he felt and his way of thinking. The main point of this book is course of growing by showing us one boy's daily life. According to general reputation, it describes juvenile's life well. Most readers from all over the world who read this book sympathize with this diary recollecting the time they go through adolescence. But I don't think so. It's too licentious for youngsters to read. Is it because of the English culture? Of course I should understand them because each culture originally assumes specificity(individuality) itself. But it's hard for me to understand theirs. While I was reading this book, the biggest thing which approach me was the Cultural difference. For example, they even can be allowed to get married when only aged 16. I think it's too opened to accept as it is. How peculiar it is!
What was strange was Adrian Mole seemed to be indifferent, because he didn't care about his parents' divorce. If I were him... Ouch! I hate to imagine the worst situation. Was he optimistic or indifferent... or both of them? Also English culture present low quality feeling sorry for them about I blame them constantly. Adrian must be a metamorphosis. That reminds me, none of them who appear in this story are normality. Firstly, Pandora Blextin, Adrian's girlfriend. She has had already three other boyfriends before. On only age of 14 !! Secondly, his mother. She doesn't look like one's mother. She smokes and drinks alcohol too much. Finally, Bert Bexter, a passioner Adrian Mole has looked after. He menaced Adrian Mole to give him a money. Even Adrian's pocket money! Adrian's father doesn't try to find his job again. Fortunately, after his mother came back their home, the most noticeable change is his father. In other words, he began to find his career. By the way, where did Doreen and Maxwell disappear? Maybe they were used by his father temporarily. I felt pitiful. In this book, it has a lot of characters. Actually, I can't believe that a boy wrote his diary everyday. what delicate boy he was! In my case, I can't keep diary everyday without skipping. From these he has side of a woman a bit. In Western society, people tend to be mature earlier comparing Eastern. Frankly, I've not been able to believe when I saw same age foreign students' face. They look older than us. Perhaps their face make their mental premature. I don't mean it's bad, please understand my word. Of course, there are benefits I obtained through this activity. I could learn numerous English idiomatic phrases. In addition, I could touch English lives I've not known before. For instance, school education system -O' level system- , or their interest about political belief. In contrast, teenagers in Korea are not concerned about that kinds of issues. Once I finished to read foreign book, I could get rid of anxiety I had on English. If I work continuously, there'll be a day when I'll be able to read English books without any dictionaries. I'm fulling to the brim I read it whole.
